“Grumpy” Custom Munny by Kevin Gosselin
From the artist (via): “A while back I was asked to create a piece as a gift to someone for Christmas, as time drew short the client said that it would be OK to make the gift a birthday gift so I got a little extra time. The recipient is an artist too and I’m told sometimes a little grumpy(well yeah, he’s an artist). He has a fondness for bulldogs and I was to link the giver to the piece as well. This is what I came up with. I have to say that it has always been most rewarding to me when my art has been done with these types of personal connections in mind. Oh and the pose that the character is in is fashioned after my daughter. She likes to place her hands within her overall like this.” Check out the artist’s blog post and click on the individual shots to see the detail involved. It’s very well done and a lovely piece. In other Kevin Gosselin news, he wrote this well thought out blog post about copying within the toy community AND he is wrapping up a limited run of ten resin figures, which he tweeted a WIP shot of 21 hours ago. From what I can tell, you may be able to contact Kevin ASAP to get on a list to purchase one, but I am not sure if there is a release date or price yet. “Little Spiker O.G.” Resin Figure by Erick Scarecrow Available for Pre-Order
From the artist:
“Now available for pre-order is the Little Spiker O.G. by Erick Scarecrow. This is the second figure in the Little Axe series! Each 6” hand painted resin figure comes with a 3” Spiked Bat accessory that is signed and numbered by artist. The O.G. is limited to only 20pcs worldwide. This collectible is for ages 15 & UP! Story: This hand painted resin toy is available for pre-order right now. If you have the $150 plus shipping/handling to drop, this is quite the figure to own. I expect the diehard Erick Scarecrow collectors to buy up these twenty total figures within the next day or so, which is what happens the vast majority of the time with ESC-Toy LTD. releases. We had the luxury of reviewing two figures from the artist: his Muraida Radioactive Green Vinyl Toy and Wet-Suit Maria Plasma Edition from SDCC 2011 - not only are they extremely cool but it’s very clear that quality control is extremely high with his work. J.E. Moores’ Bundles of Joy
“Gompers! Every shape and size. Add the Universe’s greatest consumer to your Kaiju collection. Always hungry? Feed that hunger with hand cast plastic Gomper toys!” (via)
“Bleedin’ Bat Winged Gompers! Here we have 5 Gompers with fluorescent goo dripping from their wings. Under a UV black light their eyes and goo glows. Freak out your friends and neighbors and get it on with this personal favorite batch of Gompers. Hard to let go of, because they are so cool. (NOTE: The red bleedin’ gomper only has UV glowing eyes for that super creepy vibe). Gompers, you need ‘em and I make ‘em to fill that need. Have a staring contest, they always win! JEMTOY the place where Gompers come from.” (via)
“Strange small things. Prototypes, experiments, and good ideas gone wrong.” (via) Selling for only $40/each, these bundles are a fantastic way to quickly build a J.E. Moores toy collection. He has sold 5 of these bundles quickly in the past, and I commented that I thought they were cool, to which he replied. “Yeah, this made me realize putting together small sets makes it so much fun. A little of this, a little of that. Most of these small toys would just sit there without commanding much attention, but once grouped together into a set it’s so much fun. When I cast I pour my left over resin into small molds so I don’t waste my plastic. The little things pile up fast. I’m going to have fun grouping them all into sets.” (via) Get more J.E.
